The X-Files is an American science fiction drama television series created by Chris Carter and produced by Glen Morgan and James Wong. The series follows two FBI agents investigating marginalized, unsolved cases involving paranormal phenomena. In 1994, Jeffrey Reddick initially wrote the first draft for what became Final Destination as a script submission for an episode of The X-Files entitled 'Flight 180'; he never submitted the script, however it did eventually make its way to the series' two producers, who worked with Reddick to turn the story into a film script. The characters of Schreck and Weine are a partial carry-over from the initial version of the story, being partly based on that of X-Files characters, Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully.
