Synopsis[]
Plagued by a violent recurring nightmare, college student Stefani heads home to track down the one person who might be able to break the cycle and save her family from the grisly demise that inevitably awaits them all.
Plot[]

Iris and Paul's photo
In 1969, Iris Campbell and her fiancé Paul attend the opening ceremony of The Sky Viewrestaurant. At the dance party, Iris has a premonition in which a chandelier's shard cracks the glass floor beneath the guests while a gas heater leaks, exploding the tower and killing everyone.
In the present fifty years later, college student Stefani Reyes suffers from a series of nightmares about the collapse. She returns home seeking answers and is greeted by her father, Marty, and her estranged brother, Charlie. The siblings visit their uncle Howard, aunt Brenda, and cousins Erik, Julia, and Bobby. When Stefani asks Howard about Iris, her maternal grandmother, he explains that Iris subjected him and Stefani's mother, Darlene, to an overprotective upbringing, then became reclusive, causing child services to take him and Darlene away and the latter to abandon the Reyes family after emulating her mother. Brenda gives Stefani letters from Iris, leading her to a fortified cabin in the woods where Iris now lives.

Stefani visits Iris' cabin
Terminally ill, Iris tells Stefani she disrupted Death's design by warning Paul and the guests to leave the glass floor before it broke. As a result, the tower never collapsed, but Death began killing the survivors and their descendants, who were never meant to exist, including Paul, who died in an accident, prompting Iris to document Death's omens in a book. Though Stefani is skeptical, Iris follows her out the cabin to give her the book and prove her claims by letting a chain reaction cause a weather vane to fatally impale her through the mouth.
At Iris's funeral, Darlene returns, but Stefani resents her for being absent since childhood. At a family barbecue, Stefani reads the book and finds a reference to someone identified as JB. During the event, Howard steps on a glass shard and falls into the path of a lawn mower, killing him. Later that night, a chain reaction causes a fire at Erik's tattoo shop, but he surprisingly survives due to his leather clothing. As Erik boasts to Stefani about it, Julia gets knocked into a trash bin and is thrown into a garbage truck, where she is crushed to death. The family realizes Death is targeting Iris's bloodline in order of age. Marty and Brenda are spared, as they are not blood relatives, and Erik is skipped due to being the result of Brenda's affair. Darlene suggests visiting JB at a hospital, who turns out to be William Bludworth. Present at the tower as a child and also terminally ill, he warns the family of the consequences cheating Death and explains two ways to defeat it: taking another life or dying and being revived.

The group arrive at Hope River Hospital
Erik gives Bobby a snack containing nuts, intending for Bobby's allergic reaction to kill him. Erik brings in a wheelchair and plans to use it to rush Bobby to the ER so he can be revived by medical personnel. The plan fails when an MRI machine overloads, pulling Erik's body piercings and crushing him inside with the wheelchair. The machine then sends a vending machine dispenser coil to impale Bobby's head.
Stefani, Charlie, and Darlene flee to Iris's cabin in Darlene's RV, intending to hide Darlene from Death. The RV crashes through the gate, causing Stefani's seatbelt to jam. The cabin explodes after a chain reaction, sending the RV into water and Stefani begins to drown. Darlene saves Charlie from the wreckage and ushers him to rescue Stefani before a lamp post falls and bisects her. Charlie breaks the seatbelt and successfully resuscitates Stefani with CPR.
A week later, before Charlie's senior prom, the siblings realize Stefani was only unconscious during the drowning. At that moment, a train derails into the neighborhood, and several logs fall onto Stefani and Charlie, killing them.

Production[]
In early 2011, Tony Todd said in an interview with Dread Central that if Final Destination 5 was a success at the box office, then two sequels would be filmed back-to-back.[1] On August 23, when asked whether he would be directing a sequel, Steven Quale elaborated: "Who knows. Never say never. I mean, it'll be up to the fans. We'll see how this one performs internationally, and if it makes as much money as the fourth one, I'm sure Warner Brothers will want to make another one".[2] In January 2019, a new installment was announced to be in development, from Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema. Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan will write the script, with the plot described as a "re-imagining" of the franchise.[3] In August, Devon Sawa expressed interest in returning to the franchise in the reboot.[4]
On March 2020, the film was revealed to be set in the same canon as the first five films and would focus on first responders, with series producer Craig Perry stating: "We're toying with having it take place in the world of first responders: EMTs, firemen, and police. These people deal with death on the front lines every day and make choices that can cause people to live or die. We rely on their good judgment, expertise, and calm demeanor. So why not put those people in the nightmare situation where every choice can bring about life and death – but now for themselves? We're thinking that world might be an interesting way into a Final Destination movie, and one which can also generate unique set pieces in a very credible way".[5] On October 5, 2020, series creator Jeffrey Reddick confirmed that a sixth film had been in the works prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.[6] On October 25, 2021, Lori Evans was announced to write the film since Melton and Dunstan ran out of options and left. [7]
In January 2022, it was announced that Jon Watts will serve as producer, along with Evans. [8] In September, it was announced that Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein will be served as directors for the film during a Zoom meeting where they fake their deaths.[9] Although cast members has yet to be announced. (SPOILERS) Around May-June 2023, One of the directors of FD6 confirmed there was a tattoo death scene.
In September 2023, it was announced that Tony Todd will reprise his role as Bludworth.[10]
In March 2024, the rest of the cast was announced.[11]
In July 2024, test screenings were positive, saying it would be a sequel instead of a prequel.
On November 6, 2024, Tony Todd passed away at the age of 69 but still made a posthumous release as Bludworth.
On February 2, 2025, a 10-second teaser was revealed on Twitter and Instagram.
On February 3, 2025, a full 2-Minute teaser was revealed across platforms where a victim named Erik was working at his tattoo parlor when Death begins to claim Erik using items around the tattoo parlor. Air Supply's "Without You", the song played throughout the teaser.
On March 17, 2025, a short clip of Bloodlines was featured in Final Destination | 25th Anniversary Deathstream on YouTube. It featured Kaitlyn Santa Juana's, Rya Kihlstedt's, and Teo Briones's characters narrowly avoid being hit by a log truck. However, the clip was edited out of the live stream for unknown reasons.
On March 18, 2025, creator Jeffery Reddick confirmed on Twitter that another trailer would be released within a month.[12]
On March 24, 2025, another 10-second teaser was released where Bobby was preparing a glass of an iced drink, but drops and breaks a glass cup. After cleaning the broken glass, a glass shard was in the bin of ice where Death begins to work claiming another life. Link to the Teaser on Twitter'

On April 7, 2025, an film-journalist from Collider revealed an official photo showing Bobby (and Erik, presumed to be off-screen) and a vending machine. It is unclear for now whether this would be used by Death to claim Bobby.
On April 28, 2025, a 30 second clip was posted, featuring William Bludworth telling the Campbell/Reyes family members 2 ways to break the cycle.
On April 30, 2025, a video for tickets to see Final Destination Bloodlines was posted, featuring the 25 years of Final Destination.

Release[]
Final Destination Bloodlines was released in the United States by Warner Bros. Pictures on May 16, 2025, and it was released internationally two days prior to its official U.S. release.[19][20] The film was filmed for IMAX and released in both IMAX and standard formats.[21] A double-bill special screening was shown in select theaters on May 9 and 10, a week before the film's release, which included the original 2000 film.[22] Early screenings of the movie were held internationally also on those days.[23] [24]

The film made $21 million on its first day, including an estimated $5.5 million from Thursday night previews.[28][29] It went on to debut to $51.6 million, finishing first at the box office.[30] Its opening weekend was the biggest for the franchise, even adjusted for inflation,[31] besting The Final Destination.[32][33] The film made $19.3 million in its second weekend (a 63% drop) and $10.8 million in its third, finishing in third and fourth place, respectively.[34][35]
Critical response[]
The film became the best-reviewed installment in the franchise.[36] On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 92% of 212 critics' reviews are positive. The website's consensus reads: "Adding some surprising emotional layers onto the ghoulish bones of Final Destination's mythology, Bloodlines ingeniously executes grisly set pieces with precision and turns impending doom into outrageous fun."[37] Metacritic, which uses a weighted average, assigned the film a score of 73 out of 100, based on 35 critics, indicating "generally favorable" reviews.[38] Audiences polled by CinemaScore gave the film an average grade of B+ on an A+ to F scale, while those surveyed by PostTrak gave it an average four out of five stars, with 69% saying they would definitely recommend the film.[39]
Todd Gilchrist of Variety called the film "clever, unpredictable and fun" and praised Todd's performance as "a tender tribute to the horror luminary and retroactive connective tissue between the franchise's disparate chapters".[40] Frank Scheck of The Hollywood Reporter wrote that the film "gives its audiences exactly what they expect. Namely, a series of ingeniously designed, diabolical Rube Goldberg-style fatalities that are mostly so within the realm of possibility that you'll find yourself crossing the street very carefully after you leave the theater". He also praised Todd's appearance as "a poignant reminder that in real life, as in these movies, death comes for everybody".[41]
